Six species of the genus Polypedates, which is one of the two genera found in Sri Lanka in the family Rachaporidae, are currently found. Among them,most common endemic species is the Common hour-glass tree frog(Polypedates cruciger). This species is spread in the wet zone, intermediate zone, and dry zone to the highest mountains(1600m) and is also found around the gardens. There is a species similar to this species is found in the dry zone of Sri Lanka and although the species shows similar morphological characteristics to this species, there are some key points that can be separated. ● The first point, the Hourglass mark on the Character is absent in Polypedates maculatus. ● Second point, skin-to-skin adhesions in the inter orbit area. ● Third point, by the yellow spots on the groin area of ​​Polypedates maculatus. Breeding is propagated by maggots and the female lays a bubble-like nest of eggs over a place full of water so that it can fall into the water, then the male fertilizes it after adding sperm. After 28 days, Tiny frogs blend in with the environment. According to the IUCN red list it is named as a least concern species.
