Black-cheek Lizard
Belongs to the Agamidae family. Endemic to Sri lanka and restricted to the highest elevations in the central hills. (Nuwara eliya, Horton Plains, Pattipola, Ohiya, Peak wilderness)
Black-cheek Lizard (Male)
Males have a broad black band on the lips. It extends to the edge of the head. Grows upto about 35-40 cm. This arboreal species prefers low shrubs and ferns near ground but can climbs trees upto 10m high.
Black-cheek Lizard ( Female )
In horton plains and other similar areas they can be seen hunting on the red flowers of Rhobodendron plants and yellow flowers of Ulex plants. Sometimes the males can have a bluish green colour like in this male in above pictures.
