𝐁𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐮 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥
Bomburu Ella, also referred to as Perawella Falls, is a stunning waterfall located in the Uva-Paranagama Divisional Secretariat of Sri Lanka. Situated near the boundary of Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts, it lies around 15 kilometers from Welimada town. The waterfall stands approximately 50 meters tall and spans 20 meters in width, comprising a series of smaller falls that come together. The water feeding the falls originates from a lake in the central highlands of Sri Lanka.

Known as the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka, Bomburu Ella Falls, also called Perawella Falls, is a breathtaking natural marvel. Originating from the upper section of the main tributary of the Uma River, the falls are a series of smaller jungle waterfalls that merge together, forming an impressive 165-foot cascade.

The challenging hike through the Sita Eliya Kandapola Forest Reserve and the river descent is certainly demanding, but the stunning views offered by Bomburu Ella make the effort well worth it.

During the hike to the top of Bomburu Ella, you’ll encounter around eight small jungle waterfalls scattered along the way. Each contributes its stream to the formation of Bomburu Ella Falls, with their converging rivulets collectively creating what is now recognized as the widest waterfall in Sri Lanka.
