Forsten's cat snake
This species can be found in many colours and this red morph is one of the rarest. This red morph can be only found in Sri Lanka's wet zone and India's Western Ghats. Even though there are so many myths around this snake it's venom is not potent enough to harm humans.

The most common colour morph is the black- brownish grey one with white bands. Other colour morphs can be a mix between those morphs mentioned above. It is the largest Boiga species in Sri Lanka and can grow upto 2 meters in length. A nocturnal species mostly living among trees.

When threatened puffs up the body and rapidly moves the tail. Sometimes hisses. The breeding season is in August to September and lays 5-15 eggs. Mainly feeds on small reptiles and birds but sometimes small mammals, bird eggs and even other snakes as well.
