World Elephant Day 12/08/2024

I am extremely happy that a conservation dream I have seen as the Chair of the Human-Elephant Coexistence Subcommittee of the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka has become true today. It is the 'Gaja Nana Sahana' island-wide scholarship program for the children one of whose’ parents died due to complications of human-elephant conflict, announced this morning at Independence Square in commemoration of World Elephant Day tomorrow (August 12). I strongly believe that one day this effort will be a landmark in the conservation history of Sir Lanka. I am dedicated to it. Please extend your loving hands to make it 🙏
