Leaf Nosed Lizard

Restricted to the Knuckles Range, Ceratophora tennentii inhabits montane forests above 700-1200 meters above sea level. Can be found in natural forests, abandoned cardamom plantations and home gardens.

Leaf Nosed Lizard

Mainy lives on moss covered tree trunks but can be also found on low bushes, cardamom plants and on lianas. It features a laterally compressed rostral appendage resembling a leaf and can grow up to about 22 cm. The lateral body scales are large and irregular. This arboreal species lays between 2 to 4 eggs at a time, with juveniles primarily exhibiting terrestrial behavior.

Leaf Nosed Lizard

It is a slow moving species but males sometimes attacks other males for territory. Feeds on caterpillars, earthworms and insects. When threatened they open the mouth and reveal the bright colours.
